Dr. Michael M. Best, MD
Founder and Chief Medical Officer
An accomplished Orthopedic Hand and Spine Surgeon and sought-after public speaker and educator, Dr. Best is licensed to practice medicine in Indiana and Kentucky, and is a provider licensed by the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation.
Current positions also include University of Louisville School of Medicine Instructor, Orthopedic Surgery (1982 to present), and International Academy of Independent Medical Evaluators (IAIME) Committee Case Reviewer (2001 to present).
Education and residencies include University of Louisville (MD Degree), General Surgery at Boston City Hospital, General and Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, and Specialty Training in Hand Surgery through Louisville Hand Surgery Associates.
Mr. Duane Ray
Co-Founder and Chief Operations Officer
Mr. Ray brings 31 years of insurance, marketing and managed care industry experience to CDS. He joined Liberty Mutual Insurance in 1990, adjudicating workers compensation and liability claims for United Parcel Service, General Foods, and other large employers. He then started Risk Management Services Corporation, a Third Party Administrator of workers compensation and property/casualty claims for self-insured entities. During his tenure, Duane managed a homogeneous self- insurance fund in KY, growing it to four million in premiums in four years. He then became a regional manager for CorVel, a national company providing nurse case management, PPO/MCO networks, and medical bill adjudication to fee schedules. He grew and sold his ownership in Van Zandt, Emrich & Cary Insurance Agency. Duane has structured insurance programs for universities, school systems, and governmental entities.
Duane is a 1988 graduate of the University of Louisville with a Bachelor of Science in marketing. He has also obtained the designation of Certified Insurance Counselor, and is a licensed consultant/agent in over 20 states.
Mr. John Beran
Chief Financial Officer
John is an entrepreneur that has scaled a few lifetimes of experience and worn many hats including Chief Financial, Chief Operating and Chief Executive Officer roles in both start-ups and large enterprises ($300 million to $3 billion).
John’s career started at KPMG and evolved to CFO of Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee, Wisconsin before relocating to Louisville, Kentucky as Chief Operating Officer of a large health care services company. Since 2000, John has invested in or helmed over a dozen ventures.
John brings to CDS a proven record of achivement and knowledge of scaling success from start-up to maturation.
Mr. Glen Schweikert
President
Mr. Schweikert has been in executive sales leadership for 30 years. In his most recent role he served as Broker Sales and Marketing Director at Aflac where he drove significant increases in sales and large brokerage house revenues.
Glen has an extensive background in scholastic coaching as head varsity basketball and baseball coach in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. He currently resides in Louisville, Kentucky with his wife and daughter.
